September 2026

Wednesday 2nd September. A now rare visit to Cannock Chase, seeing the changing colours a little earlier this year.

Thursday 3rd September A visit to see Sheila and Bill in Cheddar. So good to have a laugh!

Friday 4th September. A nostalgic trip into Weston-S-Mare visiting some old haunts.

Saturday 19th September. See a fine Brown Parasol fungi in the playground in Brewood.

Monday September 21st. Our autumn French experience begins with a good journey to a new coastal destination, Berck-sur-Mer. Poor hotel room but good meal and overall and enjoyable stopover.

Passing over the Dartford Bridge.

Tuesday September 22nd. Difficult long drive to Chateauroux with so many roadworks. So lovely to arrive in the warmth and walk the Jardin de Public before a delicious dinner.

Wednesday September 23rd. Good journey south from Chateauroux to arrive in Alet for a pleasant evening stroll to the Casino for another delicious meal.

Thursday September 24th. A disappointing walk in the Cabanes. Too hot and the parched vegetation means no butterflies and no birdsong. Need to wait a little time for “think not of Spring, thou hast thy music too”….

Friday 25th September. A visit to see the dogs and a strong walk up St Salvayre to the farm before a coffee in Limoux.

Saturday 26th September. Or donkeys are still there but the walnuts not yet ripened.

Our donkeys!

To Gayda for a special evening meal for Julie’s birthday. Beautiful evening!

Sunday September 27th. A short stroll around the lake at Quillan seeing a few butterflies in the parched fields before a splendid meal at the Pierre Lys.

Monday September 28th. A wonderful walk around St Martin de Villereglan capturing the mood in words :

The soft warmth of an autumn breeze

ushers away still summer heat

to gently sway the plane tree leaves

and bend the golden yellow seeds

Tuesday September 29th. A road walk up the Causse on a drizzly morning. Good to get up high!

A walk up the Causse road

In light warm drizzle

A peaceful silence calms

Then a barking dog fractures my new found peace

Wednesday September 30th. To Coustaussa on a soft, still very warm morning.
